In the meantime, don't forget to:

• Visit www.fafsa.ed.gov to see if you qualify for the many scholarships and grants that are available. Using federal aid first helps reduce the amount you'll need to borrow overall.
• Talk to the folks in your school’s Financial Aid Office. They’ll likely be able to provide you with guidance on alternative sources of education financing.
• Check out www.smartborrowing.org to learn how to make smart decisions about affording college.
